Are you unhappy with your current job? Do you feel that the grass may be greener at another organization or in a different position? Well, that may be the case. But until you actually trek over to greener pastures, you need to find ways to be happy in the position you are currently in. If you are unhappy with your job, it will spread like wildfire and negatively affect all aspects of your life. Learn to love the job you’re in as much as you can by trying these simple, but effective tips. They will help you be more satisfied with your work by removing some of the unhappiness from your current job.
Take Pride in Your Work
Regardless of what you do for a living, chances are you can find something about it to take pride in. It could be the organization or company’s overall mission. It could be the productivity of your particular department or division. Perhaps it is the actual work that you produce. Maybe it is as simple as knowing that you are giving it your all. Take a look at your skills, talents and interests and the way they are used at work and find something you love about the job everyday, no matter how small. Taking pride in your work can lead to greater job satisfaction and overall happiness in the workplace.
Visit the Water Cooler and Be Social
One of the ways to be happier at work is by developing connections with co-workers. Even if you don’t love your actual job, developing relationships with those you work with will help you enjoy the time you spend at work. I am not advocating that you spend hours on end at the water cooler, but visiting it once in awhile for a quick break and a chat with a co-worker can boost productivity and make you both enjoy your job more. So go ahead — get out there and be social!
Seek Out Assignments and Projects That Are Meaningful To You
Another way to be happier at work is to seek out assignments and projects that are meaningful to you. This could be in the core areas of your job, or in peripheral areas that your company or organization work in. If you want more responsibility, let that be known. If you want to incorporate certain talents and skills into your work, figure out ways to do so. Looking for more meaning in your work, but unable to find it directly? Think broadly. For example, maybe you are a corporate lawyer and feel that you want to use your legal talents in a way that “gives back.” You could seek out pro bono assignments and projects once in awhile that will serve to fulfill this need, thus making you enjoy your overall work and job more.
Participate in a Task Force or Committee to Make a Difference
Many companies and organizations have committees, but not all committees and task forces truly make a difference. You can change that. Find a committee or task force that is doing meaningful work and jump on board. Or better yet, create a task force or committee that studies and solves a problem. Employees that are involved in creating solutions are generally the ones that are happiest at work, as they are taking an active part in effectuating change. So don’t be a hermit – get out there and participate.
Change Your Attitude
A large part of job satisfaction and happiness in the workplace is affected by attitude. The good news about that is you can change your attitude! When your attitude changes, often times your behavior changes too. Yes, maybe your job is boring, or your boss is annoying, or the company is not creative in its approach, but your attitude towards your job is controlled by you. Dwell on the aspects of your job that are positive. Try your best to maintain some enthusiasm for your job. You are in control of your thoughts and attitude, so try to make it your mission to stay as positive as possible.
Coaching Challenge: Try to find ways to be happier at work by picking one of the above categories weekly and focusing on it. Let me know how you do, and how much it raises your happiness quotient!
I want to share something with you. Starting my own business was scary — REALLY scary (but also exciting)!! When I decided to leave my legal career behind and start my first business 13 years ago, all I had was an idea (or several all at once but was unsure where to start), and a load of self-determination to actually try being a business owner.
The hard truth is… your first 3-5 years in business are typically the most challenging and the time when many amazing people simply give up. Many new business owners experience some, or ALL, of the following entrepreneurial fears:
“I have an idea but don’t know where to start”, or
“How do I even set up a proper/legal business structure?” or
“I’ve started my business but I’m spinning my wheels, feel frustrated and I’m losing money… I need to get a ‘real’ job…” or
“You know what… this is just too much for me, I’m not cut out to be my own boss.”
Well, I’m happy to tell you: First, you’re not alone, and second, you can absolutely get through the first 3-5 years and thrive with the right business guidance, information, planning, support and mindset. With expert support and training, you can create the success you envision and so much more.
To that end, I’m thrilled to announce the first LMGU “Self-Study” course that you can take at your own pace! The Successfully Self-Employed Semester is now an on-demand training program for newer business owners or anyone that is serious about starting a new business. This course offers all the required skills, knowledge and guidance for the newer entrepreneur/business owner (or an experienced business owner that wants to go back to basics or plug some missing holes in your business!).
So many people contacted me to say that they really need this entrepreneurial training program, but can’t take it at the exact time I offer it live. Therefore, by popular demand, SSES has been converted to a self-paced, on-demand, home study course.
And the entire program is affordable — only $499 — enabling you to get the training you need for your business without breaking the bank! (If you’re a member of NAPO or an LMGU Alumni, contact me for a special discount).
The SSES Self Study Program consists of 10 modules of audio recordings and handouts that are yours as soon as you purchase. You learn on your own time from the comfort of your home or office.
Topics covered will include:
Business Identity and Branding
Legal Structure and Issues
Marketing & Communications
Networking and Public Relations
Sales, Pricing and Money Issues
Blueprinting Your Business Operations
Campus doors are open! Stop spinning your wheels to figure everything out yourself. Get the help you need to set up or grow your business so that you can be Successfully Self Employed.

What has always been heartbreaking for me is to watch how many fellow entrepreneurs give up too soon because they never find the solid information, training and support they need to succeed at an affordable level.
That’s why I’ve created the Successfully Self-Employed Semester. It is a teleclass-based training program starting on September 30th for newer business owners, anyone that is serious about starting a new business, or someone that’s been in business for years but needs to go back to basics.
Topics include: business identity and branding, legal structure and issues, marketing, networking and public relations, sales, pricing and money issues, and operations. It’s a powerful program offered at a fraction of the cost of doing private business coaching with me.
Here’s an overview of the program details:
Dates: Tuesday evenings, September 30th – December 9th
Length of Program: The program extends over ten weeks allowing you time to learn, engage the materials, implement, test out your knowledge, and make your learning last far beyond the end of the semester.
Includes: Master Classes, MP3 recordings of all calls, handouts/checklists/templates, a private Facebook group for all of us to communicate, plus two bonus audio programs as soon as you register to get you started and motivated!
Topics covered: Business ownership, business identity and branding, legal issues, marketing, networking and public relations, the sales process, pricing/packages and money issues, and business operations.
Flexibility & Accessibility: The program is offered entirely via phone and the internet, so no matter where you live this program is flexible and accessible to you! Plus, if you can’t make a live class, you can always listen to the MP3 recording, which will be posted the day after every class/call.
Affordability: Many newer business owners need help in the first few years, but can’t afford to get it. I’ve kept the program affordable so that you can get access to the help you need and crave. Offering this program in a group setting, and using technology to deliver it, is what allows me to keep the price at this level.
Investment: Early Bird Special = $697 if you register by September 23rd (with a 2-pay option of $360 in two equal installments if you need to space the investment out)
This program is strategically designed to help entrepreneurs with foundational business skills to build your confidence, structure, operations and effectiveness as a business owner. Come join me for the Successfully Self Employed Semester!
Hope to welcome you to “campus” when we start on September 30th!
As many of you recall, I launched an online learning platform last year called LMG University, which houses all of my online group programs. The one year anniversary of LMGU is this month! Wow… time flies, right?
It has been an amazing experience facilitating my online programs for the past year. So wonderful that we are doing them all again! Many of you contacted me to say that you wanted to take certain programs but the timing was off when we offered them last year. Well, here’s your chance!
Kicking off the academic year, we have two great online programs to choose from: one for newer/emerging entrepreneurs to help build a solid sustainable business, and the other one to help you live a healthy, passionate, productive “sweet life.” For full details and registration, visit each program page.

“Wow! Where do I begin when it comes to sharing about the bottom line impact that the Successfully Self Employed Semester offered by LMG University has had on my business, goals and perspective?! Some of the value I received in participating in this 12 week program was knowing that I’m going to save a ton of time and money implementing what I learned, versus stumbling around on my own trying to figure it out.
During SSES, we thoroughly discussed the crucial topics needed to be a successful business owner. Due to Lisa’s exceptional expertise, as well as the camaraderie and team spirit of the participants, I accomplished several goals and tasks promptly and efficiently while learning how to increase my sales, legally protect, and automate my business. Belonging to a group of entrepreneurs who come with their uni que backgrounds and experiences complimented by Lisa’s invaluable knowledge and business savvy, we were able to walk through personal and professional fears, and gain broader perspectives around what may be going on behind the scenes. We addressed some of the deeper issues holding us and our businesses back. What a gift to receive on-the-spot input, ideas and constructive feedback regarding my elevator speech, marketing materials, legal business status, and so much more.
If you’re looking for a program that will show you how to maximize results and profits over the long haul, I highly recommend Lisa Montanaro’s Successfully Self Employed Semester.”

Here’s my promise to you:
You will not just feel like another “butt in a seat” or like you are lost in a sea of people. You will receive personalized attention and support.
We will not just “scratch the surface” with a bunch of boring templates that you have already have seen a hundred times. We will delve into the heart and soul of who you are, what needs to change, and how you will change it.
I will not just gloss over what really needs to be said. We will tend to the deeper longings and transformation necessary to make the lasting changes and radical results you are ready for.
You will not have to sit for hours on end listening to a talking head. You will engage, interact and experience so what we do becomes a part of who you are, making it easy to bring back into your life and business/work.
I will not just focus on the personal development side so that you worry how to apply this to your professional business endeavors. You will receive guidance so you can ground it all into a viable professional model.
I will not just focus on the business so that you are left feeling void of meaning and that your personal life, interests, passions, and soul are not accounted for. I well help you feel at ease to authentically and effectively bring forth your personal side.
I will not just be putting on a show that leaves you questioning what you came for. I will ensure you feel seen, honored, and appreciated so that you can unearth who you are and become aligned with who you want to become so that you shine brighter than ever before.
It is your time! Time for you to focus on your personal and professional purpose. Time to move forward as the brave, beautiful, bold woman entrepreneur or leader that you know you can be, and as a collaborative group of powerful energy.

The rolling hills, verdant landscapes, and fruit growing vines bathe visitors with a sense of hope and renewal, regardless of the season. The spectacular trails and overlooks provide numerous opportunities for hiking, exploration, communing with nature, and escaping from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and work.
In some ways, I am still a newcomer to California Wine Country, as I only just relocated to Northern California in July 2012. But don’t fret! I have personally scouted out the perfect locations for our retreat experiences, and still have the enthusiasm, excitement and eagerness of a newbie that has fallen in love with a place, a mood, an environment and a lifestyle. From the first time I visited California Wine Country, I felt at home in a way. It evoked the fond memories I have of Tuscany and Provence, and made me grateful to have this gem of a region so close by.
It has been my dream for many years to gather women like you in a phenomenal setting like this so that I can help you unwind, reconnect, step into your power and transform your life and business in meaningful ways. Now that dream is coming true… for me, and if you join me in November, for you too!
There’s nothing like immersing yourself in a completely different environment, especially one deliberately designed for your ease to catapult you to the next level.
“I enjoyed your Kick Butt Business Bootcamp hosted by the NAPO-Greater Philadelphia Chapter. The content was fabulous. But even more so, I want to thank you for patiently and comprehensively answering all of my questions! In 13 years of being a business owner, I can’t remember having an opportunity to ask one person such a variety of questions about running and marketing a business. What an amazing opportunity! Many other attendees thanked me afterward for asking so many relevant questions that all of us really wanted to know the answers to. Thank you again!” ~ Adriane Weinberg, www.organizedapproach.com
I’m prepared to give you the best of the best in service so you can create your purpose and live your passion in business and life, on your terms, and have fun while doing it!
NOTE – If You Are Not a Wine Drinker: Not everyone drinks wine (or any type of alcoholic beverage for that matter). Please be aware that non-alcoholic drinks will be available at every meal, you will not be pressured to taste wine if you choose not to, and you will not be made to feel uncomfortable in any way. The Wine Country is more than wine! It is a culture, mood, and experience. It is about living a life of passion, enjoying nature, slowing down, and savoring every moment. The area will entice you with its romance even if you never drink a drop of wine! 🙂
“Lisa is the most inspirational, influential, and motivating coach to experience. I have had her coach me as a mastermind mentor for the WED/PEP Program, and now for her own La Dolce Vita Program from LMG University. She is the only one that I trust as a mentor, and have found that as an entrepreneur my ideas for all of my passionate pursuits became both clear and organized after attending her programs. Lisa uses a real hands on approach to work within so that you will empower yourself, and also will be able to dig deep in order to pursue your true passion and turn it into a future filled with profitable benefits. I would highly recommend Lisa! Upon completion of one of her programs or events, you will be aware that anything that you may have previously found to be out of your reach or you may have thought to be impossible will now and always become possible.” ~ M.S. Butler
“Lisa is an amazing Renaissance Woman of many talents. She is passionate about her work. She makes her work FUN. Lisa is the ultimate problem solver. I love listening to Lisa during our group coaching sessions where she skillfully listens and then offers her suggestions, ALWAYS with respect, kindness and CLARITY. In Lisa’s group coaching program, she acknowledges each person’s concerns. She points out the positive things that they do and helps problem solve how they can do something different. There is no criticism. Lisa is warm, caring and passionate about helping others do and be the best that they can. It is helpful to hear others tell their stories as it makes you feel that you are not alone. Also, to receive encouragement from others is helpful — we are all in this together. I am so pleased to have been a part of her group coaching program and look forward to joining one of her programs again in the future.” ~ Mena Messina Genetti, Warwick, NY

This transformational experience – of connecting, adventure, freedom and having the opportunity to explore more sides to yourself – is exactly what you are craving.
You want to uncover, own and profit from your purpose and passion.
You want to get back into your own skin. Life can be really “crazy busy” and you’ve found that you lose yourself way too easily and say yes to things you don’t always want to.
You long to rediscover the beauty of life and learn how to move through the world in a more easeful, powerful and fun way.
You crave some space to map out the next step for your business and life vision.
You want to redefine what “having it all” means to you so that you can wear all your different hats with grace, style and humor.
You would like to stop living in the past and worrying about the future.
You want to get away from your everyday life and experience the true meaning of retreating and relaxing.
You want to pow-wow with some really amazing women who dream big and will be your “believing eyes.”
You would love to feel better in your body, mind and spirit so that you can harness every opportunity and weather any challenge that comes your way.
You are ready to give yourself permission to dream big and develop an action plan to make your vision real.
“Lisa is wonderful! Her tutelage, calming influence, and goal-directed persona have allowed me to achieve optimal performance. I highly recommend her to anyone! Great person, easy-going personality, and inspirational support.” ~ S.L., Major, United States Military Academy, West Point, NY
When we want big things to happen in our lives and businesses/careers, we must be willing to take bold steps to do what it takes to create and live our dream. It doesn’t just happen by hoping and wishing (well, sometimes it does, but usually you have to take inspired action!). You have to be willing to make some space for transformation.
That’s where the Purpose, Passion, Productivity Retreat comes in. In this idyllic environment, to-do lists, deadlines and responsibilities fade away … so you can get quiet, sit still and hear the innermost desires of your soul, body and mind. You’ll be surrounded by life-altering ideas, inspiring women, relaxing retreat space, nourishing meals, beautiful landscapes, big dreams, successful soul sisters, and gleeful fun. It’s pure magic, fit for a visionary like you.
You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll learn to start now – to live out loud!
This retreat is designed to inspire you to embrace your own Renaissance Spirit by tapping into your creativity, innovation, originality, and authenticity.
You will find the courage to dig deep to examine beliefs that are keeping you from moving forward in your personal and professional lives. You will be inspired to create the life and work that you are meant to experience!
Is this calling you? Answer the call!
I’ll see you at the Wine Tasting Happy Hour on Thursday, November 6th. Looking forward to it!
“Here’s the difference between you and others: You give CONTENT. You offer true ideas and pieces that I can use. Many other coaches/speakers are teases – it’s all about marketing for the next venture, and nothing to walk away with. I have always known that there is more to you than just finding the next client. Thank you for really sharing things that can be implemented. I really believe your passion is about helping people and businesses to become their best. Thank you for truly sharing from your wealth of knowledge. You are a whirlwind of energy, innovation, and authenticity. Thank you for sharing and thank you for caring. Cheers!” ~ Britt Newman, Britt Newman Design Concepts

“She’s bright and shiny on a dreary day, she sings, she dances, she’s a Professional Organizer, oh and did I mention she’s an attorney too? She’s Lisa Montanaro, and she was one of our favorite teleclass guest experts last year. As I mentioned Lisa is multi-talented but what I really like about her is her approachability. Speaking to an expert can be a little intimidating but Lisa knows how to answer the tough questions while making sure you truly understand the answers.” ~ Angela Ploetz, A Red Bench

“Lisa, I so enjoy the women’s entrepreneur mastermind group sessions that you facilitate. You share with us very practical and useful information that we can apply to our businesses and our personal lives. You provide the right balance between sharing and allowing us to reflect, ask questions, and comment. Also, thank you for being transparent, and sharing your successes and challenges that you have encountered in your business. This is both refreshing and gives us encouragement. Lastly, the handouts are great! Thank you for sharing some of the tools you use in your business. Not everyone would do this! I’m eagerly looking forward to the next sessions!” ~ Migdalia, Educational Consultant and Coach, Westchester County, NY
Your Purpose, Passion, Productivity Retreat Host: Lisa Montanaro
Often referred to as a pint-sized power house, Lisa Montanaro is living proof that good things really do come in small packages! A dynamo in high heels, Lisa is a Productivity Consultant, Success Coach, Business Strategist, Speaker and Author. She is also a multi-passionate modern-day Renaissance woman, entrepreneur and adventurer.
Realizing that she could make a bigger impact, Lisa “defected” from her decade-long, high-pressure, six-figure law career upon the heels of the 9-11 tragedy and founded her business, Lisa Montanaro Global Enterprises in 2002 to fully capture the holistic approach her work takes in improving personal and professional development at all levels. She has helped thousands of people live successful and passionate lives, and enjoy productive and profitable businesses and careers. Her online learning platform, LMG University.com, provides courses globally to improve people’s lives, businesses and careers.
Lisa is an inaugural Certified Professional Organizer (CPO®), a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO), and the National Speakers Association (NSA). A sought-after speaker, Lisa has presented professionally to audiences throughout the United States, has been interviewed by television and radio hosts, and is a frequent presenter and guest expert for teleclasses and webinars. Her practical programs, enthusiasm, humor and energy inspire participants to take action and implement new techniques designed to improve their personal and professional effectiveness. Lisa’s work has been featured in the media, and her written content has been widely published online and in print. She is the author of The Ultimate Life Organizer: An Interactive Guide to a Simpler, Less Stressful & More Organized Life, published by Peter Pauper Press.
Always one to live life to the fullest and embrace change, Lisa started a new adventure in July 2012 when she and her husband, Sean, a veterinarian, and their two very sweet but spoiled dogs, Dublin and Jerry, moved 3,000 miles clear across the country from New York to Northern California. Lisa loves that she can run her business from anywhere in the world. She’s living proof, having successfully transitioned to a business that allows her to live a lifestyle in alignment with her values and desires while running a thriving business. Lisa has successfully created her purpose and very much lives her passion, and now makes it her mission to help others do the same!
Lisa is passionate about teaching her tribe how to be smart, sassy, soulful entrepreneurs and leaders with rock-solid systems to make great money while working less. Lisa’s core message — Create Your Purpose, Live Your Passion — helps clients, online program participants, and live audience members tap into their Renaissance spirit, and consider dreams never realized and possibilities never investigated due to limiting beliefs that cause us to hold back, give up, and play small.
Through her own experience of following her dreams, and incorporating her passions into her career and business, Lisa shows the incredible strength and courage inside of us all just waiting to be ignited. Lisa says “Living your passion takes risk, but that risk is a small price to pay for being able to avoid a watered down version of your life and work!”
“A pint-sized powerhouse…. that is how to describe Lisa Montanaro after seeing her in action at the amazing Kick-Butt Business Boot Camp held in Baltimore, MD for a select group of professional organizers that were ready to up-level their businesses. Lisa delivered on her promise to provide high-level content backed up by real-life examples garnered from her years of experience as a business coach and successful entrepreneur running her own business. She not only gives you solid tips and tools, but answers tons of questions and does mini-coaching moments on the spot so that attendees can tailor the content to their own businesses and learn from hearing her answers to other attendees. She is approachable, funny, and whip-smart too! What a winning combination! Attendees said they got their money’s worth and more, and were excited to implement the best practices into their businesses. Want to ensure that your business building event is a success? Make sure it includes Lisa Montanaro!” ~ Amy Rehkemper, NAPO Baltimore Chapter
Every effort has been made to accurately represent the retreat and its potential. I promise to deliver a top-notch event with quality content and experiences to build, grow and up-level your personal and professional development.
The testimonials and examples used are specific personal results, and are not intended to represent or guarantee that any individual attendee will achieve the same or similar results. Each individual’s success depends on his or her background, dedication, desire, commitment and motivation. As with any business, career or personal endeavor, there is an inherent risk of loss of capital and there is no guarantee that you will earn any money. Although I have repeatedly seen clients make a significant return on their investment, that is no guarantee that all clients will be able to do so, or even desire to do so.
There are no refunds available for the retreat. The reason is simple. I will be putting in an amazing amount of time, effort and expense before and during the retreat to make it a huge success for everyone involved. Please respect my commitment level.
However, I also realize that sometimes in life, sadly, unexpected things happen that may cause plans to change. In the event you are not able to attend the retreat after you have registered, you must notify me in writing by sending an email to Lisa@LisaMontanaro.com at least 21 days before the retreat begins. Provided you notify me before the 21-day period, your payment will be transferable, with the option to:
Attend the next Purpose, Passion, Productivity Retreat;
Apply your payment towards another program offered by Lisa Montanaro Global Enterprises or LMG University; or
Substitute another woman not already registered for the Retreat to take your spot in November 2014
“I am honored to have been part of Lisa Montanaro’s first Purpose, Passion, Productivity Retreat in California. After doing business coaching with Lisa for several months, I knew the retreat would be nothing short of spectacular. I am thrilled to say that it exceeded my expectations! Not only did I have many revelations from the retreat content, each participant taught me something on a personal level. I loved spending time getting to know the other attendees and it was fun exploring new places (restaurants, wineries, shops) with them.
I am anxious to put my ideas into action for both my business and personal life and I look forward to connecting with the rest of the brilliant women (whom I now consider my friends) again in the future. Thank you, Lisa, for a fabulous weekend!”
~ Lisa Luken, www.SimpleJoyLiving.com
“It was a pleasure spending such quality time with amazing ladies at the Purpose, Passion, Productivity Retreat! I loved the camaraderie, the sharing and the inspiration with everyone. Looking forward to staying in touch to celebrate successes and share challenges on this journey.
One of the most valuable things for me was how Lisa pulled back the curtain and let us see how her business actually works. Also sharing the systems she has in place was terrific – like the spreadsheets. And of course her endless enthusiasm! 🙂
Lisa Montanaro, thank you for pulling it together and being our fearless leader – you rock girlfriend! You are an amazing and inspiring multi-talented lady!”
“At the Purpose, Passion, Productivity Retreat I learned to: ‘Dream big, stake your claim and create the future you desire!’ It was magical! What an outstanding group! Thank you, Lisa Montanaro.”
~ Suzanne Hobbs
“The circles under my eyes are not from exhaustion. They are from profound and deep relaxation. That’s the residual effect of the Purpose, Passion & Productivity Retreat hosted by Lisa Montanaro in Wine Country in the Fall of 2014.
The way our food was selected and openly and gleefully shared was very symbolic of our entire Purpose Passion Productivity Retreat: * all different tastes, styles & preferences “bellied up to the table” * lots of questioning the expert, trusting her guidance * much positive enthusiasm & encouragement to taste new unfamiliar things * sincere sharing of everything in the circle in front of us * adventurous nibbles * gratitude & generosity for being well served * contented satisfaction, a feeling of being “fueled” with unique & quality tidbits — HOW WONDERFULLY DELICIOUS!
“I suggest you PRE-PRE-REGISTER for Lisa Montanaro’s next retreat. It will fill up fast, as all of us with her in the Wine Country this weekend want to be at the next one… no matter which CONTINENT it is on. (Read between THOSE lines!!!)
~ Mary E. Rossow, www.RossowResources.com
“I’m sending my ‘thank you love note’. I’m so glad to have been able to participate in the Purpose, Passion, Productivity Retreat for soooo many reason. Thank you for all the work you and Deb (your online business manager) did to make it an amazing experience. I was a pleasure to meet all of the ladies and get to know more about them, their lives and businesses. I look forward to staying connected with all of them! And I look forward to working on my action items.
On a completely different note, I wanted to compliment you on how put together you always look, even when going to the spa! :-)”
~ Anne Navach, www.myefficientsolution.net
“I can’t believe how helpful Lisa’s Purpose, Passion & Productivity retreat was for me. Three days of dedicated time to focus on business and life issues, in a beautiful area like California Wine Country, is a necessary gift every business owner should give him or herself. As a solopreneur for 15 years, I’ve attended many seminars and conferences and learned things along the way, but there’s something about Lisa’s delivery, her knowledge, and her incredible passion that makes it clear that she is exceptional at what she does. She has a way of getting you to delve deep inside yourself, to really examine your goals and aspirations, and to push through the obstacles standing in your way. Lisa has a gift for working with people. She is very warm and approachable, yet very professional. She is extremely knowledgeable about business and is also a inspirational model of balanced living. I highly recommend Lisa, and definitely look forward to her next retreat.”

In just 8 weeks, I felt like I had received years of training. The course content was incredibly rich and I continue to refer back to the handouts and notes as I increase my speaking services. Whether you have never taken the stage or you’ve been speaking for a while, you’re sure to learn something in this course!”
~Lisa Luken, Simple Joy Living
“I was recently asked by my peers, who made the most impact on me at the NAPO New Orleans 2013 conference. My answer was very easy… The bar was set for my first time NAPO conference at a Pre-Conference Presentation called, ‘Speak Up! Deliver Killer Presentations’ with Lisa Montanaro and Monica Ricci. They were amazing! I almost wish I would have seen them at the end, because nothing compared to them for me…sorry Keynote Speakers. These two ladies ‘spoke up’ and delivered a ‘KILLER PRESENTATION!’

Lisa and Monica really know how to speak, and how to teach others how to speak, and how to have fun doing it. I was already a speaker, but came away with some really practical and easy to implement ways to improve what I was already doing. It’s the little things that make all the difference and they covered them all. My next few gigs went smoothly and my confidence improved because I had a plan for structuring my talk, and what shoes to wear! Investing in learning from these two was one of the best business decisions I’ve made.
~ Miriam Ortiz y Pino CPO®
Two years ago I took Lisa Montanaro & Monica Ricci’s ‘Speak Up Summer Camp Virtual Class.’ I had a great time and learned so much about becoming a better public speaker. They helped me learn where to look for speaking opportunities, how to craft better talks, and feel more at ease giving them. I know you will enjoy this opportunity presented by these fantastic women.
~ Jennifer Lava, Professional Organizer, Austin, TX
Why a Speaking Program, and Why This One in Particular?
Many entrepreneurs want to add speaking to their menu of services to boost their income and credibility. Through speaking, you can add an entirely new and profitable income stream to your business. If you are already speaking, you can increase your speaking fee as you gain more skills and confidence as a speaker. And of course, you can always speak to get more clients, as speaking is an amazing marketing tool. But many entrepreneurs are still not comfortable with speaking before a live audience due to lack of confidence and know-how! Most speaking programs out there focus mostly (some only) on speaking as a marketing tool. This program will include a marketing component, but will also deliver real nuts and bolts (skills and tools) with regard to the craft of speaking. A program only focusing on speaking as a marketing stream misses the boat. You have to be a dynamic speaker to knock it out of the park in the first place or no one will ever ask you to speak again, let alone pay you to do so! This program will also provide a supportive, fun, and professional environment to ask questions, get answers, share ideas. And for those that choose to do a video submission, it will also provide a much-needed opportunity to practice and get feedback.
What Makes This Speaking Program Different Than Others Out There?
Monica and I offer a totally unique perspective on how to add pizazz to your speaking engagements! As a speaker, I tap into my performance background to bring in acting, improv, skits, role-playing, characters, accents, humor, and singing and dancing to my speaking engagements (yes, for real!).
Monica brings in her wit, charm, down to earth style and humor to wow her audiences (this girl is funny, let me tell you!). We want it to be your turn! We will teach you to use everything in your bag of tricks, but in a strategic and professional way that draws clients and audiences to you, not repels them. You will learn how to develop “stage presence” in your speaking engagements so you can shine.
Lisa and Monica’s Speak Up Program was brilliantly executed! They provided solid advice in an easy to understand format which will help you implement what you’ve learned very quickly. I’d recommend their program to anyone who wants to be a speaker or grow their existing speaking business. An added bonus is Lisa’s high energy and Monica’s sense of humor!
~ Deborah J. Cabral, CPO®, The DeClutter Coach
The Interactive Nature of This Program
Our style will be interactive to encourage participation. We will be posing questions of participants, expect participants to ask questions and participate in exercises. Participants will be given the opportunity, on a voluntary basis (we won’t force you if you don’t want to!), to submit a video of you presenting/speaking, which will then be viewed by the participants and us through private video links. Participants will receive constructive and positive feedback in a safe environment so that they can continue to practice and know what to focus on to improve. You will have the opportunity to watch/listen to other participants present, which will reinforce different presentation styles and uniqueness.
Here’s What You Will Get as Part of the Speak Up Summer Camp Program
8 weeks of group coaching calls with your co-facilitators, Lisa & Monica, and your fellow Speak Up group members covering powerful content to help you become a dynamic public speaker. These calls will be open line allowing for interaction and discussion. This is key to a group program — the opportunity to ask your questions live with other members. (Some of the best learning happens from listening to others’ questions andLisa & Monica’s answers!). The program has a group coaching element to it. Each session will have a designated topic to guide the discussion for that evening. Lisa & Monica will cover the content, and serve as co-facilitators and coaches to provide motivation and accountability. Come prepared to share ideas, ask questions and learn from each other, not just from Lisa & Monica!
Mp3 recordings of all calls. Can’t make the live calls? No problem! All teleclasses will be recorded.
Course materials – Throughout the program, handouts will be provided to reinforce the topics. Handouts may include articles, outlines, templates, checklists, exercises and samples. Handouts will be provided in advance or immediately following class in electronic format.
Private Facebook group – Where you can network and mastermind with other members, gather feedback, ask questions, AND have access to Lisa & Monica during the entire program (yes, Lisa & Monica will be personally monitoring the page and interacting and engaging with members the entire 8 weeks). In between calls, you will work on your homework assignments and you’ll receive support from Lisa & Monica and other participants the entire way through.
LMG University Degree – Certificate of Course Completion.
Status as an LMG University Alumni which provides you with discounts on future LMG University courses, programs and retreats.
Special Bonus for the First 5 People to Register
(If you are one of the first 5 to register, watch your email for your special gifts.)
An audio interview of Lisa Montanaro titled “Breakthrough to Big: Speaking as a Breakthrough Moment for an Entrepreneur” from a telesummit she participated in as a guest expert hosted by Cathy Goodwin.
An ebook by Monica Ricci titled “Your Life Organized: It’s Not About The Stuff.”
I took the inaugural “Speak Up!” workshop at the NAPO 2013 Conference in New Orleans. The material was comprehensive and useful; and the presenters were entertaining and inspiring. If you have hesitated to speak publicly, hesitate no more — Lisa and Monica will tell you everything you need to know, put you at ease, and make you laugh while they’re at it!

Who Are Your Speak Up Co-Facilitators?
You can read my formal Bio and some fun facts about me and my business here. My official titles are Productivity Consultant, Success Coach, Business Strategist, Speaker & Author. But what I’m sure you really want to know is what makes me qualified to facilitate a program about the art and craft of public speaking. I have a life long love affair and proficiency with the spoken word (just ask my teachers who scolded me for talking too much in class when I was a kid!) If there was a stage, soap box, or any other place to speak, I was on it. Indeed, I grew up on stage as a performer, served as an instructor and interpreter of the deaf (yes, I can “speak” sign language), and practiced law for 9 years in and out of courtrooms.
Once I became an entrepreneur in 2002, I originally started speaking to get more business as a coach and consultant, and then quickly turned it into one of my main income streams. I qualified to become a member of the National Speakers Association (NSA) in 2008, which requires 25 paid gigs a year. Since then, I have had the pleasure of delivering hundreds of live presentations for regional and national conferences, corporations, associations, and in numerous workplace settings, as well as be a guest on radio and cable TV, and deliver online teleclasses and webinars. I was the leader of the Speaking for Fees Special Interest Group of the National Association of Professional Organizers from 2011-2013. I am a member of the Association of Training & Development (ASTD), and a frequent presenter for that group.
I have served as a private speaking coach to many people over the years, including police officers, politicians, lawyers, entrepreneurs, organizers, rabbis — even a farmer! And lastly, I have presented this exact program live on many occasions to rave results, and started noticing how many people wanted to take it but couldn’t be in the exact place at the exact time. That sparked the idea to make this virtual and well, here we are.
Oh and did I mention that I like to talk? 🙂 Actually, here is the REAL reason why I speak. “It is a great thrill and honor to use the public speaking platform as a way to change people’s lives, impact their work, and to ultimately contribute to the transformation of society and this world. Exploring new places and engaging with new people is one of my favorite things to do. I find people and places fascinating and am a lifelong learner that tries to see the world as an amazing school that can constantly fill me up with knowledge and insight. Traveling around the U.S. – and hopefully soon, the world, as one of my goals is to speak globally – to share what I’ve gleaned from my background as a performer, educator, mediator, lawyer, entrepreneur, coach, consultant and writer is an absolute joy and privilege. I love to connect with audiences that are hungry for something new – something that just might positively shift their thinking, their business/career, and their lives.” ~ Lisa Montanaro

“Lisa delivered on her promise to provide high-level content backed up by real-life examples garnered from her years of experience as a business coach and successful entrepreneur running her own business. Make sure it includes Lisa Montanaro!”

“She’s bright and shiny on a dreary day, she sings, she dances, she’s a Professional Organizer, oh and did I mention she’s an attorney too? She’s Lisa Montanaro, and she was one of our favorite teleclass guest experts last year. Lisa can answer all those pressing questions you have been afraid to ask or didn’t know where to turn to for the answers. Lisa is multi-talented, but what I really like about her is her approachability.”
~Angela Ploetz, A Red Bench
“Your ‘Dynamic Presentations: Stand and Deliver’ workshop was very valuable. The practical experience of speaking in front of a group and getting instant feedback was great. I learned techniques that I will utilize immediately. Thank you.”

Raves for LMG University
Belonging to a group of entrepreneurs who come with their unique backgrounds and experiences complimented by Lisa’s invaluable knowledge and business savvy, we were able to walk through personal and professional fears, and gain broader perspectives around what may be going on behind the scenes.

Many of these products and services are part of official affiliate programs which pay a referral commission to me based on any purchases you make through these links. However, that is not the reason I recommend them. I only recommend products and services that I believe are of high quality, value, and will benefit you in a tangible way as you improve your home, office, and life. The Help Kenya Project
This is a Westchester County, NY based charity that focuses on helping the children of Kenya. They collect donations of used computers, books, clothing, sports equipment, and other supplies and ship them to Kenyan schools and libraries. In return, they ask that the recipients plant trees to combat deforestation and provide children with a place to rest and play out of the sun.
It’s incredible how valuable the book or computer you might be throwing out is to a Kenyan child. By providing Kenya’s students with science, English, and computer skills, they give them a much better chance of finding good jobs later in life. It breaks the cycle of poverty by helping Kenyans to help themselves. This is a charity that truly leaves a lasting impact.
The National Cristina Foundation is a not-for-profit foundation dedicated to the support of training through donated technology. For more than two decades, it has encouraged companies and individuals to donate computers and other technology, which is then matched to charities, schools and public agencies in all 50 states, Canada, and in many countries around the world.
Vietnam Veterans of America
VVA accepts donations of household goods and clothing in 30 states in the continental United States. To make a donation, please refer to the state map. Identify your area and call the phone number referenced.
Tangible Karmais a donation tracking service that gives you a chance to see the difference your donated goods can make in the world. At Tangible Karma their mission is to inspire and motivate you, to transform items that are hindering your life into valuable gifts that could make a meaningful difference in the life of another.

Recycle These Items That You Never Thought Of…
Vintage Doorknobs, Radiators, Windows and Mantels
Donate or sell classic architectural elements to salvage firms or restoration projects. SalvageWeb is an online ad space that links buyers and sellers all over the world; here you can buy an Art Deco church chandelier, or unload a clawfoot tub after renovating your bathroom. Baltimore-based Second Chance Inc. accepts salvage donations and trains low-income people in the art of “deconstructing” buildings.
Toothbrushes The Radius Original Toothbrush has a handle made of cellulose, an organic fiber. (Radius also recycles the handles of its battery-operated model once the battery runs out.)
Foam Packaging Lightweight “peanuts” made from expanded polystyrene (EPS) contain 25 to 100 percent recycled material.
The Plastic Loose Fill Council has a “Peanut Hotline” (800-828-2214) you can call to find local recycling centers, including chain-store shippers such as Pak Mail and The UPS Store. To recycle large, molded chunks of EPS used to cushion televisions, air conditioners and such, contact the Alliance of Foam Packaging Recyclers.
Nike’s Reuse-a-Shoe program turns used athletic footwear (no cleats) into a material called Nike Grind, used to surface playgrounds, running tracks and outdoor courts. Or send your still-wearable athletic shoes to Shoe4Africa, which forwards them to athletes in developing countries.
Ask your local shelter for homeless families or battered women if they accept gently used toys. The Salvation Army and Vietnam Veterans of America also take used toys. Adult-appropriate items such as board games can be sent to troops overseas through www.AnySoldier.com
Wine Corks Yemm & Hart, which produces recycled building materials, turns used corks into floor and wall tiles.
Motor Oil Recycled motor oil can find new life as a lubricant or fuel. The American Petroleum Institute estimates the electricity created with just 2 gallons of reused motor oil would power the average home for nearly a day. Preserve used oil in a clean container with a secure, leakproof lid. You can recycle the used oil filter, too. Earth 911 has a list of motor oil recycling centers that’s searchable by ZIP code.
Prom, Bridesmaid and Formal Dresses
Charities like the Glass Slipper Project accepts donated gowns, shoes and purses to provide free prom wear to low-income teens. Another great resource is Donate My Dress, which is the first national network to bring together local dress drive organizations across the U.S. Books such as “Always a Bridesmaid: 89 Ways to Recycle That Bridesmaid Dress” offer tongue-in-cheek recycling advice to every woman who has a hideous gown buried at the back of her closet.
Eyeglasses, Frames and Cases The Lions Club and Give the Gift of Sight Foundation collect used eyeglasses for needy people around the world. Donate your glasses at one of 17 Lions Clubs recycling centers, or at chains such as Pearle Vision Center, LensCrafters and Sunglass Hut.
Computers, Cell-Phones and Other E-Waste The EPA maintains a list of charities that accept used electronic equipment. Staples, Office Depot and Best Buy offer in-store e-waste recycling — Best Buy also recycles used appliances. Dell, Toshiba and Sony lead the way in recycling computer products. Donate cell phones to organizations like The Wireless Foundation. Ship old videotapes and DVDs to Ecodisk or Greendisk.

Electronics Electronics improve the way we live, work and play. But, there’s one place where electronics should have no impact — the environment. Through responsible use, reuse and recycling of electronics, the consumer electronics industry and consumers can protect and preserve the environment — together. Many organizations offer free recycling of used electronics, so it’s easy to be green. Check out the following sites, which offer ways to sell or recycle your used electronics.
I care a great deal about the organizations and the people with whom I have the pleasure of working. I have a deep sense of mission about the importance of my message and the difference it can make in both organizations and people’s lives, so I would be thrilled to be able to help you keep the momentum alive after a speaking engagement. Please let me know any way I can be of service to your organization, and thank you again for the privilege of spending time with you and your very special people. The best part of my work is receiving the positive feedback from people that have heard me speak telling me how my message has impacted their lives and work. Thank you for this wonderful gift! It means the world to me. Warmly,
Make the most of your upcoming speaking engagement! Lisa offers additional options to drive home the message and help apply it in your organization.
Speaking Plus Reinforcement is a way to reinforce the content and customize it for your organization by offering any of the following additional opportunities:
Pre-Speaking Engagement Options
Teleclass or Webinar – A teleclass or webinar can be arranged before the speaking engagement to introduce the material and start the creative juices flowing, to allow participants to get to know Lisa a little better, and to gather feedback from attendees to get an idea of their biggest challenges in order for Lisa to further customize her presentation.
Feedback Gathering/Focus Groups or Train the Facilitator – Having Lisa conduct interviews with select members of your organization prior to a speaking engagement is a productive way for her to gather information and get feedback that directly pertains to the topic of her presentation. This allows for an even deeper customization of the material. Focus groups allow participants across all levels of the organization to express both their concerns and their ideas to make the organization an even better place to work. They are very positively focused, build morale, and amazing ideas have come from them. Lisa can also do a “Train the Facilitator” session to teach several of your employees to run these groups themselves on a regular basis.
Teleclass or Webinar – A teleclass or webinar can be arranged after Lisa’s presentation providing attendees further opportunity to ask questions after they have had a chance to incorporate the ideas of her presentation, as well as to give upward feedback of any continuing challenges.
Consulting or Coaching – Many corporate and organizational clients benefit from a combination of speaking plus consulting or coaching. Usually, this involves a presentation followed by consulting or coaching with individual managers/employees/team members in person or by Skype or phone to apply the content at an individual, department or division level. Because attendees participated in the presentation, they are ready to work at a deeper level to tackle the challenges and apply the content learned. Some of Lisa’s clients have utilized her on a retainer basis where she spends 1-3 days per month in some part of their organization, encouraging, advising, and training.
Team Building Exercises – After the initial excitement of a speaking event, it is essential to find ways to encourage others not only to find commonalities but also to honor and value differences. Team building exercise are designed to create a new spirit of “We’re all in this together, so let’s enjoy one another and make it the best experience possible for everyone.”
Articles for Your Organization’s Newsletter or Website – Lisa has a ton of great written content in the areas of work-life balance, professional and personal development, leadership, time management, productivity, business and entrepreneurship. Visit the Article Library. You may use any of these articles in your newsletters or on your website by simply including Lisa’s Reprint Box and copyright, notifying us for permission, and sending us a hard copy or providing a link to our website. Lisa is also always willing to write a new article for your organization if you allow her to retain the copyright and you request it with enough lead time.
Reinforcement Package – Many clients choose to purchase Lisa’s written and multi-media materials for participants to reinforce what they learned during her presentation, apply it to their work and lives, and continue the experience of improving personal and professional development. These materials may include books, workbooks, e-books, home study courses, MP3 audio programs, CDs, and videos. And don’t forget about the free e-zine, Create Your Purpose, Live Your Passion. Many clients choose to give a subscription to attendees as an added bonus after one of Lisa’s speaking engagements. It’s a great way to keep the message reinforced long after the speech is over. Ask Lisa for assistance in putting together a Reinforcement Package that best meets the needs of your event and your group.
