I’d like to share with you this video (or audio) that I did with Smead in their “Keeping You Organized” podcast series with John Hunt. We discussed decisions and indecisiveness… and why it’s important to make a decision, even if it may turn o ut to be the wrong one.

Overwhelmed just thinking about the upcoming holiday season? Relax. If you take a little time to plan your holiday season, it will be more enjoyable for you and your family! Focus on practicing good organizational techniques and time management principles.  Here are some tips to make the holidays enjoyable and the new year start off in a positive manner.

Setting Your Goals for the Holiday Season

  • Christmas_treeWe are pulled in so many different directions during the holidays: travel, family gatherings, parties and social events, shopping, baking, decorating, etc. As yourself: What do I want? This question is an invaluable guide for the holiday season. Think about what you want to do, as opposed to what you think others expect of you. Decide on your goals for the holiday season. Do you want to spend quality time with family? Do you want to try your hand at hosting or baking? Or, do you want to relax and enjoy quiet time? Achieving your goals and creating a meaningful holiday season requires that you have smart plans in place, especially if you want to enjoy the season without overindulging or stressing out.
  • It is difficult to keep all of the mental clutter associated with the holidays in our head! Keep a ‘holiday central’ notebook or create a memo in your handheld device. List items you want to do (notice I didn’t say need to do!), gifts to be purchased, people to send cards to, etc. Create a holiday budget so you know what you want to spend and stick to it.

Dealing with Holiday Schedule Overload

  • holiday_stressorsAll the things you want to do over the holiday season can bring pressure if you don’t bring your wants and needs into alignment and into a manageable schedule. Holiday joy comes from balance and choosing the activities that are fulfilling for you. Avoid taking on too much at this time of year. If you’re feeling too pressured, look for activities that you can reschedule until after the holidays, delegate, or say no to. Recognize that you can’t do everything, especially if you want to enjoy your holiday season!  Ask yourself: What is the worst thing that will happen if I don’t do this?
  • Identify and avoid triggers. If going to certain events or seeing certain family or friends stresses you out and always ruins your holiday experience, avoid that activity. If you must attend, shorten your visit. If you are watching what you eat, plan ahead by eating a small healthy meal at home, so you won’t be as hungry at the event. Or plan out what you will eat at the event, allowing yourself a few treats that you only get to have once per year and stick to your plan.
  • If you regularly exercise, don’t stop over the holidays! Carve out time for exercise, even if it is not as much time as you usually do. The holidays are stressful enough – don’t miss out on a great form of natural stress relief!

The payoff to all of this planning? You won’t have post-holiday regret syndrome! You’ll be calmer and more available to enjoy the company of your family and friends, and you’ll start the new year feeling empowered.

Do you…

… long to live a life of purpose and passion, that reflects your values AND desires?

… need permission to make your well-being, happiness, and self-care a priority?

… have fear that is still holding you back from going after what you want?

… feel tired of living your best life “in your head” and want to make it a reality in 2015?

Then you are in luck! Come learn how to live “The Sweet Life!”

Introducing the La Dolce Vita 6-Week Group Life Coaching Program from LMG University, starting on February 19, 2015.

Lisa-Sean-ItalyThis isn’t just any group life coaching program. It’s based on content taken from my concept of La Dolce Vita (The Sweet Life), a nd will help you bring the passion and zest back to your life.

The content is based on my research (and background!) of Italian culture, positive psychology and happiness, years of coaching clients holistically to integrate life-work balance, and my own personal lifestyle. My life is a work in progress, and sharing my own personal experience, and that of the hundreds of clients I have been privileged to work with, is part of the La Dolce Vita process.

Stop settling for good enough because you are worried if you go for great that people will think you are too big for your britches. It is time to step into your power and claim the life you know you are truly meant to live!

How much longer are you willing to wait? How much time are you willing to sacrifice? When will you decide that you deserve to be really happy and live The Sweet Life?

If you are committed to making regular “deposits” in areas of your life that have been neglected and feed them what they need to grow and prosper, then join me for La Dolce Vita.

Topics we’ll address in the 6 weeks:

checkbox Crazy Busy Is Not a Badge of Honor: Positive and Proactive Productivity
checkbox Prioritizing Self Care: Let Go, Say No, and Make You a Priority
checkbox Become a Passionista! How to Tap Into Your Passions & Manage Them
checkbox Don’t Be a See-Saw Anymore: Go Beyond Balance and Engage in Life-Work Integration

italy-vineyardMany people have been asking me to share this type of content and create a program like this for years. And I am thrilled to finally be able to share it with you. But I don’t want fiances to keep you from living a La Dolce Vita life! So I have kept this program affordable.

Early Bird Rate is $299 until 2/12; $359 thereafter (there’s even a 2 pay option available if you need to spread payments out).

Go to lisamontanaro.com/ladolcevita/a for details and to register.

Hope to help you live a La Dolce Vita kind of life this year!

PS – Portions of this program may qualify for Continuing Education Units (CEU) depending on your certification. For example, if you are a Certified Professional Organizer (CPO), some of the classes may be CEU eligible if you assist your clients with time and productivity management and life-work balance.

When you put in so much time and effort to get organized, the last thing you want is to backslide and wind up back where you started. The good news is that you can stay organized once you reach an organized state of bliss (or even a semi-organized, “it’s better than it was and I can live with it state”!). All that is required is active maintenance. Oh no, you think – more work! Yes, but remember, it is a lot easier to stay organized than it is to get organized.

Maintenance Should Become Second Nature

Organizing is a way of life that requires maintenance and ongoing effort until it becomes second nature. Think about something you do everyday, like brushing your teeth, for example. You just do it, right? It is a habit, something that comes naturally to you. You don’t need reminders, checklists, alarms and prompts. But imagine you just started brushing your teeth today. It is an entirely new grooming activity that you are now required to do. You may need a prompt to remind you to do this new activity. But after a reasonable amount of time, you would naturally incorporate this new activity into your routine and would no longer need reminders. You would just do the activity automatically. In order to stay organized, you need to slowly incorporate maintenance of organizing systems into your daily routines. After awhile, you don’t even think about it anymore, you just naturally maintain your systems.

Develop Simple Maintenance Routines

Integrate a daily and periodic maintenance program into your routine, but keep it simple. You’ve heard the old adage, “A place for everything and everything in its place.” Well, it goes a long way if your goal is to maintain organizing systems. Put things away at the end of each day at home, and at the office. If you start something, complete it if possible. If not, put the project items off to the side so that they do not become clutter in your way. If you use up the last of an item in the house, replenish it (at work, give notice to whoever stocks the supply cabinet). If you open something, close it. If you take something out to use it, put it away when you are done. Make this “finish it” policy a rule that all users of the organizing systems follow.

15 Minutes a Day Keeps Clutter at Bay

Want to maintain an organizing system? 15 minutes a day keeps clutter at bay! Once you’ve created an organizing system that works, take 15 minutes a day to keep it that way. If it needs much longer than that, chances are it is too complex of a system, or you are still in backlog mode with too much clutter. If so, then you need to focus on continuing to declutter and setting up simple, user-friendly organizing systems.

It is entirely possible that some areas of your life will be in maintenance mode while others will still be in the process of getting organized. That is expected. While you are getting organized, you will naturally finish some areas before others. For the areas that are already organized, use your maintenance routines. For the rest, keep plugging away! You will get to maintenance mode if you hang in there, I promise.

Don’t get caught up in the actual amount of time. 15 minutes at work, and 15 minutes at home, is an average. Some people need much more time to maintain their organizing systems, some need much less. It depends how many organizing systems need to be maintained, how complex they are, how many users are involved, whether someone is sabotaging the system by not cooperating in maintenance efforts, etc. Use 15 minutes as a benchmark to measure your maintenance efforts against.

Some people do their maintenance in the morning (washing dishes from last night’s dinner, choosing outfits for day, planning their schedule on their calendar, putting away files no longer working with, etc.), while others do it at the end of the day before they leave work and before they retire for the evening at home. The right time to maintain organizing systems is when it is easiest for you and you will actually do it. If you decide to maintain systems at the end of the day, be sure to finish activities at home and at work 15 minutes before you close shop, in order to leave enough time for maintenance.

Exercise: Schedule 15 Minutes a Day

Schedule in a recurring appointment on your calendar that prompts you to do 15 minutes per day of maintenance of organizing systems at home and at work. Remember, maintaining an organizing system should become second nature, like brushing your teeth everyday. But it may take time for it to become a habit, so be patient. Meanwhile, 15 minutes a day will help keep clutter at bay, and maintain your orderly new life!

natasharickert“Wow! Where do I begin when it comes to sharing about the bottom line impact that the Successfully Self Employed Semester offered by LMG University has had on my business, goals and perspective?! Some of the value I received in participating in this 12 week program was knowing that I’m going to save a ton of time and money implementing what I learned, versus stumbling around on my own trying to figure it out. During SSES, we thoroughly discussed the crucial topics needed to be a successful business owner. Due to Lisa’s exceptional expertise, as well as the camaraderie and team spirit of the participants, I accomplished several goals and tasks promptly and efficiently while learning how to increase my sales, legally protect, and automate my business. Belonging to a group of entrepreneurs who come with their unique backgrounds and experiences complimented by Lisa’s invaluable knowledge and business savvy, we were able to walk through personal and professional fears, and gain broader perspectives around what may be going on behind the scenes. We addressed some of the deeper issues holding us and our businesses back. What a gift to receive on-the-spot input, ideas and constructive feedback regarding my elevator speech, marketing materials, legal business status, and so much more. If you’re looking for a program that will show you how to maximize results and profits over the long haul, I highly recommend Lisa Montanaro’s Successfully Self Employed Semester.” ~ Natasha Rickert, www.EnergytoOrganize.com

SusanChitwood2“Lisa is top notch! She is inspiring, encouraging and cuts to the heart of the issue to offer right on solutions. And she’s entertaining (and organized) to boot!” ~ Susan Chitwood, Maypop Design

Why California Wine Country? The Inspiration for the Purpose, Passion, Productivity Retreat

Typical landscape with rows of grapes in the wine growing regioI love Tuscany and Provence, the wine country regions of Italy and France. When I relocated to California and discovered the California Wine Country, I fell in love with it, and realized that I had this beautiful gem in my backyard. I now want to share it with you.

California Wine Country has a world-wide reputation. And it’s no wonder! It’s a major wine-producing region, foodie lovers paradise, with a mild climate and stunning scenery. I’ve deliberately chosen this place for you! People gather from all over the world to experience this soul-nourishing place. California Wine Country is a perfect backdrop for personal and professional development and enrichment. It enhances creative thinking and problem solving. The rolling hills, verdant landscapes, and fruit growing vines bathe visitors with a sense of hope and renewal, regardless of the season. The spectacular trails and overlooks provide numerous opportunities for hiking, exploration, communing with nature, and escaping from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and work.

In some ways, I am still a newcomer to California Wine Country, as I only just relocated to Northern California in July 2012. But don’t fret! I have personally scouted out the perfect locations for our retreat experiences, and still have the enthusiasm, excitement and eagerness of a newbie that has fallen in love with a place, a mood, an environment and a lifestyle. From the first time I visited California Wine Country, I felt at home in a way. It evoked the fond memories I have of Tuscany and Provence, and made me grateful to have this gem of a region so close by.

It has been my dream for many years to gather women like you in a phenomenal setting like this so that I can help you unwind, reconnect, step into your power and transform your life and business in meaningful ways. Now that dream is coming true… for me, and if you join me in November, for you too!

There’s nothing like immersing yourself in a completely different environment, especially one deliberately designed for your ease to catapult you to the next level.

Adriane Weinberg“I enjoyed your Kick Butt Business Bootcamp hosted by the NAPO-Greater Philadelphia Chapter. The content was fabulous. But even more so, I want to thank you for patiently and comprehensively answering all of my questions! In 13 years of being a business owner, I can’t remember having an opportunity to ask one person such a variety of questions about running and marketing a business. What an amazing opportunity! Many other attendees thanked me afterward for asking so many relevant questions that all of us really wanted to know the answers to. Thank you again!” ~ Adriane Weinberg, www.organizedapproach.com

I’m prepared to give you the best of the best in service so you can create your purpose and live your passion in business and life, on your terms, and have fun while doing it!

NOTE – If You Are Not a Wine Drinker: Not everyone drinks wine (or any type of alcoholic beverage for that matter). Please be aware that non-alcoholic drinks will be available at every meal, you will not be pressured to taste wine if you choose not to, and you will not be made to feel uncomfortable in any way. The Wine Country is more than wine! It is a culture, mood, and experience. It is about living a life of passion, enjoying nature, slowing down, and savoring every moment. The area will entice you with its romance even if you never drink a drop of wine! 🙂

MS Butler.jpg“Lisa is the most inspirational, influential, and motivating coach to experience. I have had her coach me as a mastermind mentor for the WED/PEP Program, and now for her own La Dolce Vita Program from LMG University. She is the only one that I trust as a mentor, and have found that as an entrepreneur my ideas for all of my passionate pursuits became both clear and organized after attending her programs. Lisa uses a real hands on approach to work within so that you will empower yourself, and also will be able to dig deep in order to pursue your true passion and turn it into a future filled with profitable benefits. I would highly recommend Lisa! Upon completion of one of her programs or events, you will be aware that anything that you may have previously found to be out of your reach or you may have thought to be impossible will now and always become possible.” ~ M.S. Butler

“Lisa is an amazing Renaissance Woman of many talents. She is passionate about her work. She makes her work FUN. Lisa is the ultimate problem solver. I love listening to Lisa during our group coaching sessions where she skillfully listens and then offers her suggestions, ALWAYS with respect, kindness and CLARITY. In Lisa’s group coaching program, she acknowledges each person’s concerns. She points out the positive things that they do and helps problem solve how they can do something different. There is no criticism. Lisa is warm, caring and passionate about helping others do and be the best that they can. It is helpful to hear others tell their stories as it makes you feel that you are not alone. Also, to receive encouragement from others is helpful — we are all in this together. I am so pleased to have been a part of her group coaching program and look forward to joining one of her programs again in the future.” ~ Mena Messina Genetti, Warwick, NY

BrittNewman“Here’s the difference between you and others: You give CONTENT. You offer true ideas and pieces that I can use. Many other coaches/speakers are teases – it’s all about marketing for the next venture, and nothing to walk away with. I have always known that there is more to you than just finding the next client. Thank you for really sharing things that can be implemented. I really believe your passion is about helping people and businesses to become their best. Thank you for truly sharing from your wealth of knowledge. You are a whirlwind of energy, innovation, and authenticity. Thank you for sharing and thank you for caring. Cheers!” ~ Britt Newman, Britt Newman Design Concepts

T AngelaPloetz“She’s bright and shiny on a dreary day, she sings, she dances, she’s a Professional Organizer, oh and did I mention she’s an attorney too? She’s Lisa Montanaro, and she was one of our favorite teleclass guest experts last year. As I mentioned Lisa is multi-talented but what I really like about her is her approachability. Speaking to an expert can be a little intimidating but Lisa knows how to answer the tough questions while making sure you truly understand the answers.” ~ Angela Ploetz, A Red Bench

“Lisa, I so enjoy the women’s entrepreneur mastermind group sessions that you facilitate. You share with us very practical and useful information that we can apply to our businesses and our personal lives. You provide the right balance between sharing and allowing us to reflect, ask questions, and comment. Also, thank you for being transparent, and sharing your successes and challenges that you have encountered in your business. This is both refreshing and gives us encouragement. Lastly, the handouts are great! Thank you for sharing some of the tools you use in your business. Not everyone would do this! I’m eagerly looking forward to the next sessions!” ~ Migdalia, Educational Consultant and Coach, Westchester County, NY

Your Purpose, Passion, Productivity Retreat Host: Lisa Montanaro

Lisa_Montanaro3Often referred to as a pint-sized power house, Lisa Montanaro is living proof that good things really do come in small packages! A dynamo in high heels, Lisa is a Productivity Consultant, Success Coach, Business Strategist, Speaker and Author. She is also a multi-passionate modern-day Renaissance woman, entrepreneur and adventurer.

Realizing that she could make a bigger impact, Lisa “defected” from her decade-long, high-pressure, six-figure law career upon the heels of the 9-11 tragedy and founded her business, Lisa Montanaro Global Enterprises in 2002 to fully capture the holistic approach her work takes in improving personal and professional development at all levels. She has helped thousands of people live successful and passionate lives, and enjoy productive and profitable businesses and careers. Her online learning platform, LMG University.com, provides courses globally to improve people’s lives, businesses and careers.

Lisa is an inaugural Certified Professional Organizer (CPO®), a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO), and the National Speakers Association (NSA). A sought-after speaker, Lisa has presented professionally to audiences throughout the United States, has been interviewed by television and radio hosts, and is a frequent presenter and guest expert for teleclasses and webinars. Her practical programs, enthusiasm, humor and energy inspire participants to take action and implement new techniques designed to improve their personal and professional effectiveness. Lisa’s work has been featured in the media, and her written content has been widely published online and in print. She is the author of The Ultimate Life Organizer: An Interactive Guide to a Simpler, Less Stressful & More Organized Life, published by Peter Pauper Press.

Always one to live life to the fullest and embrace change, Lisa started a new adventure in July 2012 when she and her husband, Sean, a veterinarian, and their two very sweet but spoiled dogs, Dublin and Jerry, moved 3,000 miles clear across the country from New York to Northern California. Lisa loves that she can run her business from anywhere in the world. She’s living proof, having successfully transitioned to a business that allows her to live a lifestyle in alignment with her values and desires while running a thriving business. Lisa has successfully created her purpose and very much lives her passion, and now makes it her mission to help others do the same!

Lisa is passionate about teaching her tribe how to be smart, sassy, soulful entrepreneurs and leaders with rock-solid systems to make great money while working less. Lisa’s core message — Create Your Purpose, Live Your Passion — helps clients, online program participants, and live audience members tap into their Renaissance spirit, and consider dreams never realized and possibilities never investigated due to limiting beliefs that cause us to hold back, give up, and play small.

Through her own experience of following her dreams, and incorporating her passions into her career and business, Lisa shows the incredible strength and courage inside of us all just waiting to be ignited. Lisa says “Living your passion takes risk, but that risk is a small price to pay for being able to avoid a watered down version of your life and work!”

Amy Rehkemper“A pint-sized powerhouse…. that is how to describe Lisa Montanaro after seeing her in action at the amazing Kick-Butt Business Boot Camp held in Baltimore, MD for a select group of professional organizers that were ready to up-level their businesses. Lisa delivered on her promise to provide high-level content backed up by real-life examples garnered from her years of experience as a business coach and successful entrepreneur running her own business. She not only gives you solid tips and tools, but answers tons of questions and does mini-coaching moments on the spot so that attendees can tailor the content to their own businesses and learn from hearing her answers to other attendees. She is approachable, funny, and whip-smart too! What a winning combination! Attendees said they got their money’s worth and more, and were excited to implement the best practices into their businesses. Want to ensure that your business building event is a success? Make sure it includes Lisa Montanaro!” ~ Amy Rehkemper, NAPO Baltimore Chapter

Lisa_and_Lisa_Luken_sm“I am honored to have been part of Lisa Montanaro’s first Purpose, Passion, Productivity Retreat in California. After doing business coaching with Lisa for several months, I knew the retreat would be nothing short of spectacular. I am thrilled to say that it exceeded my expectations! Not only did I have many revelations from the retreat content, each participant taught me something on a personal level. I loved spending time getting to know the other attendees and it was fun exploring new places (restaurants, wineries, shops) with them.

I am anxious to put my ideas into action for both my business and personal life and I look forward to connecting with the rest of the brilliant women (whom I now consider my friends) again in the future. Thank you, Lisa, for a fabulous weekend!”

“It was a pleasure spending such quality time with amazing ladies at the Purpose, Passion, Productivity Retreat! I loved the camaraderie, the sharing and the inspiration with everyone. Looking forward to staying in touch to celebrate successes and share challenges on this journey.

One of the most valuable things for me was how Lisa pulled back the curtain and let us see how her business actually works. Also sharing the systems she has in place was terrific – like the spreadsheets. And of course her endless enthusiasm! 🙂

Lisa Montanaro, thank you for pulling it together and being our fearless leader – you rock girlfriend! You are an amazing and inspiring multi-talented lady!”

Suzanne Hobbs“At the Purpose, Passion, Productivity Retreat I learned to: ‘Dream big, stake your claim and create the future you desire!’ It was magical! What an outstanding group! Thank you, Lisa Montanaro.”

Lisa_and_Mary_Rossow_sm“The circles under my eyes are not from exhaustion. They are from profound and deep relaxation. That’s the residual effect of the Purpose, Passion & Productivity Retreat hosted by Lisa Montanaro in Wine Country in the Fall of 2014.

The way our food was selected and openly and gleefully shared was very symbolic of our entire Purpose Passion Productivity Retreat: * all different tastes, styles & preferences “bellied up to the table” * lots of questioning the expert, trusting her guidance * much positive enthusiasm & encouragement to taste new unfamiliar things * sincere sharing of everything in the circle in front of us * adventurous nibbles * gratitude & generosity for being well served * contented satisfaction, a feeling of being “fueled” with unique & quality tidbits — HOW WONDERFULLY DELICIOUS!

“I suggest you PRE-PRE-REGISTER for Lisa Montanaro’s next retreat. It will fill up fast, as all of us with her in the Wine Country this weekend want to be at the next one… no matter which CONTINENT it is on. (Read between THOSE lines!!!)

~ Mary E. Rossow, www.RossowResources.com

Anne_Navach_sm“I’m sending my ‘thank you love note’. I’m so glad to have been able to participate in the Purpose, Passion, Productivity Retreat for soooo many reason. Thank you for all the work you and Deb (your online business manager) did to make it an amazing experience. I was a pleasure to meet all of the ladies and get to know more about them, their lives and businesses. I look forward to staying connected with all of them! And I look forward to working on my action items.

On a completely different note, I wanted to compliment you on how put together you always look, even when going to the spa! :-)”

Anna_Jacoby_sm“I can’t believe how helpful Lisa’s Purpose, Passion & Productivity retreat was for me. Three days of dedicated time to focus on business and life issues, in a beautiful area like California Wine Country, is a necessary gift every business owner should give him or herself. As a solopreneur for 15 years, I’ve attended many seminars and conferences and learned things along the way, but there’s something about Lisa’s delivery, her knowledge, and her incredible passion that makes it clear that she is exceptional at what she does. She has a way of getting you to delve deep inside yourself, to really examine your goals and aspirations, and to push through the obstacles standing in your way. Lisa has a gift for working with people. She is very warm and approachable, yet very professional. She is extremely knowledgeable about business and is also a inspirational model of balanced living. I highly recommend Lisa, and definitely look forward to her next retreat.”

Module 1 Discover what you have at home, at work, and in life.

In this early phase of the process, you must go on a path of discovery. Discover your biggest organizing obstacles and set goals for the program. Explore what physical and mental “stuff” takes up space in your life. Think of the Discover step as a time to reflect and conduct a self-assessment.

Click to Download
Module 2 Eliminate what is unnecessary and does not further your goals.

During this phase, you will need to spend time and energy thinking about, and ultimately purging items from your home and office that you do not love, use often, or need. This module will teach you about how to say no to tasks that do not further your goals. Learn about one of the biggest obstacles in organizing – determining what to purge.

Click to Download
Module 3 Categorize what remains.

Categorizing is vitally important as it serves as the foundation of the organizing system.  When items are stored by category, it is easier for the brain to process. In this module, you will learn how to “think” in categories so that you store like with like, making items easier to find, retrieve, and use. Discover tools and tricks to help categorize such as choosing common characteristics and “zoning.”

Click to Download
Module 4 Implement a system designed to match your needs, habits, work & lifestyle.

For an organizing system to be successful, it must be tailored to you.  That means it must fit your home, work, needs, habit and lifestyle.  If not, you will be unable to maintain it.  Lisa will share tried-and-true systems that she has used with hundreds of clients. She will guide you in developing your own personalized “system” that will be easily maintainable.

Click to Download
Module 5 Dedicate yourself to maintaining your new system and integrating it into your life.

This is the stage when the daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance comes in.  You must commit to making your organizing systems second-nature, or your self-help efforts will fail. Dedicate 5 will pull all of the tricks and tips together so that you have guidelines and goals to maintain your organizing efforts. You’ll be able to function more productively as you learn to stay organized.

Click to Download
Module 6 Enjoy the freedom and positive results being organized brings.

Think of Enjoy as the light at the end of the tunnel.  This is the time to bask in your newly organized systems, and enjoy the fruits of your labor — more time and space, improved health and relationships. Think about your successes and set future goals for after the program.

Coaching/Consulting FAQs

How Does Coaching/Consulting Work?

As soon as we decide to enter into a coaching relationship together, I will send you a Coaching Packet that will include an Agreement, Policies, and a Coaching Profile for you to fill out with pertinent questions to answer. This will help assist me in getting to know you better and being able to prepare for our work together. Many clients say that there is coaching in the forms themselves and that they feel the coaching process begins as soon as they contact me!

Coaching is provided in person, via Skype, via email, and/or over the telephone. Usually it’s one-on-one, but occasionally there will be cause for me to work with two people at once or groups. If you were to be a fly on the wall during a coaching session, what you would observe is talking and listening — real active listening — a deep conversation.

What is a Discovery Call?

I call it a Meet-and-Greet call. We’ll get to know each other and determine if we are a good match to transform your business together. I’ll be asking questions and getting to know you and your business, and at the end of the call, I will make recommendations to you as to what level of coaching (if any… I do “select” my clients!) would be the best match for you at this time.

What the Discovery Call is not…

A free coaching session. This is for the person who’s seriously considering working with me, and is able and willing to make the investment of time and money, so I ask that you please respect my time and approach this in a professional and respectful manner. I promise you I will bring my A game to the Discovery Call, as I will to the entire Platinum Coaching Level experience.

Please Note: Strategy Sessions and e-Coaching can be booked immediately online. All other longer-term coaching programs require a Discovery Call, so that we can make sure we are a good fit before we dive in and spend some time together.

If you want to dream big, stake your claim, and create the life and business/career that you desire and deserve, take the next step and book a !

Coaching Not in Your Budget At This Time?

Alternative Resources

No problem! For everything there is a season.

If private coaching is not a good fit for you at this time due to a limited budget, consider my group coaching programs, audio programs, ebooks and print books as an affordable alternative. Visit the Online Store for do-it-yourself options.

If you are on a very limited budget, there are many free (and valuable!) tips and resources available on this site, including the “Achieve Powerhouse Success with Passion, Purpose and Productivity” Tool Kit, as well as hundreds of expert articles, thought-provoking blog posts, and some cool videos too (and while you are there, be sure to “Subscribe” to my blog and You Tube Channel to get updates whenever I post).

I periodically offer free teleclasses, webinars, or video series on various topics, as well as lower priced group training programs and home study products. I almost always offer an Early Bird Rate, to reward people that take quick action. Sometimes I even offer a new program, product or service with a special low Introductory Rate to beta test it before a full launch. The best way to make sure you don’t miss out on these opportunities is to get on my mailing list now.

Every effort has been made to accurately represent my services, products and programs, and their potential. I am committed to working with my clients to help them to learn how to be more successful in business, career and life. I believe that by adhering to the strategies, advice and guidance I provide, you can see increased productivity, profitability, happiness, and success. However, I cannot guarantee any minimum level of results or suggest that the testimonials of my clients will be typical of your experience.

The testimonials and examples used are specific personal results, and are not intended to represent or guarantee that anyone will achieve the same or similar results. Each individual’s success depends on his or her background, dedication, desire, commitment and motivation. Although I have repeatedly seen business coaching clients make a significant return on their investment, that is no guarantee that all clients will be able to do so, or even desire to do so. Coaching often provides the framework that leads to increased productivity and profitability, but is not always a direct correlation.

There are no refunds available for any coaching programs. The reason is simple. The more committed you are, the more successful you will be. Please only enroll if you’re really ready to commit to being successful. Your engagement in coaching is critical to that success. I’ll help you get started and keep you moving forward, but it’s your responsibility to show up, to utilize your coaching, and to put the work we do together into action.

time_to_liveIn honor of Valentine’s Day, my gift to you is that I am extending the early bird rate for the La Dolce Vita 6-Week Group Life Coaching Program… until the day the program starts! Yes, that’s right. The price will stay at $299 for good.

Why, you ask?

Because I want you to be able to take the program if is it “calling” you without worrying about breaking your budget. It is a fabulous program that will deliver excellent value and change your life. the_artists_wayIn the amazing book The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron, she discusses the concept that all of us have an “art” that runs deep within us yearning to break out. This art can literally be an artistic talent like painting, writing, or performing, but it could also be something else entirely. It can be connecting, teaching, being funny, etc. For some people, they find this art at a very young age, and they build a career and a life around it. For others, they may find this art, but decide not to do anything with it, or fight it tooth and nail. Some abandon it, never to let it come to the surface again. The people that bury their art often wind up being extremely unhappy in their careers and their lives. The ones that pursue it wholeheartedly are usually profoundly happy and feel they are living out their calling.

But is there an in between? I believe so. There are some people that do not pursue their art directly, but indirectly it becomes a part of their life or career. Cameron calls this being a shadow artist. For example, the class clown who decides not to pursue a career using humor directly as a stand-up comedian, but becomes a professional speaker whose humor is a big part of how he connects so deeply with his audiences. The painter or sculptor that decides that she doesn’t want to be a struggling artist trying to get her work into art galleries, but instead decides to become an art teacher and share her passion and talent with the next generation of artists. Or a dancer who decides to become a choreographer helping other dancers create art on stage. But beware — being a shadow artist can be a negative experience, as in the case of someone that is deeply resentful of not pursuing his or her art directly. The key is to make sure that your art indirectly manifests itself in your life or your career in a positive manner so that it still remains a part of your life, while not being resentful that you’re not pursuing it directly.

attorneyMany people struggle with having spent so much time training and preparing for their art, that they dig their heels in stubbornly refusing to abandon it, or incorporate it into their life in another way. I was once in this position. I convinced myself that I was an attorney at heart. I badly wanted to believe it, as I had invested so much time, money and energy training to become a lawyer. Much about that world was alluring. It was intellectual, paid extremely well, was high powered, and was well respected, while giving me the sense that I was helping others in a meaningful way. It was enticing the way a drug would be. Plus, I was really good at it. It took me almost a decade to understand that the law was not the right fit for me — or maybe not to understand it, but to accept it and move on. I realized that law was not my true art. Instead, my true art was to help, guide, teach, motivate and inspire others. Unfortunately, the way that my art manifested through my being an attorney was a huge disconnect. It was too negative, too stressful, and not as directly helpful as I had hoped it would be and wanted it to be. I had the right intentions but chose the wrong package to house them in. Once I realized this, I had to make a change. And I did. I now get to enjoy being a coach, consultant, speaker, and author using my true art in a way that feels positive, and is a perfect fit for me.

Having spent so much time navigating my own successful career transition and guiding others through theirs, I have found that there are 3 key steps to identifying your own art.

1) What did you want to be when you grew up? Not the specific answer… but the underlying impulse. What is the archetype that is deep within you? What is your true art? I wanted to be a stage actress, singer, and dancer. When I dug deep, it was more about the art and craft of performing, and connecting with the audience than being famous, so it was easy to make that a hobby, and incorporate some aspects of it into my work as a professional speaker. I wanted to teach the deaf as I was so inspired by Helen Keller and my deaf family members. I did teach and interpret for three years and it was a wonderful experience. The teacher archetype runs strong in me to this day and all of my work incorporates it.

snowboarder2) Pay attention to the work you gravitate to in your “day job,” as well as your volunteer activities. Often, it’s not the position, title, company, or anything official that shows us our true art, but the actual work. What work puts you in “flow” state? What gets you jazzed, taps into your passions, or is just plain fun or interesting to you?

3) Pay attention to what you envy. Jealousy may be an ugly emotion, but it often uncovers our true desires or tells the truth in some form. It may not be the exact thing you envy, but some version of it. When I first decided not to pursue Broadway as a career, it was often difficult for me at that time to go see a show. I realized I still had some envy around that choice and had to really examine whether I had made the right decisions with abandoning that dream. Over the years, it became clear that I could keep a foot in the theater world through performing in community and regional theater, and I would not be resentful, envious or jealous of those that had pursued this art directly and made it on Broadway. With this sense of peace and acceptance around my decision, I am able to fully enjoy theater as a participant, and as an audience member.

It’s obvious that people flourish when they’re engaged in occupations, roles or settings that are aligned with their personalities. But I think it goes deeper. Your true art doesn’t have to come out in the work you do at all. However, I believe it has to come out somehow. So if the work you do doesn’t allow you to integrate your art at all, make sure that you’re able to express your art in your personal life. Your art should strongly arouse your passions and provide a welcome place to express yourself. It should be like an emotional vacation.
